The electric automakers concentrated on maximizing the range of battery use on one charge.

The biggest factor in an electric vehicle is the battery power. It is reported: Toshiba has developed a new fast charging battery that gets fully recharged in a matter of minutes and could allow EVs travel three times farther than existing ones.

Toshiba’s super charge ion battery has been in the market in various forms since 2007, as its chief claims has ability to bring capacity to 90% in five minutes.  Also with life –span of 10 years and high levels of safety and put to work on Mitsubishi’s I MiEV and Honda’s Fit EV.

The new SCiB generation uses a new material for the anode called titanium niobium oxide, which Toshiba was able to arrange into a crystal structure that can store lithium ions more efficiently.

"If you look at the last five years, if you look at what major innovations have occurred in computing technology, every single one of them came from AMD. Not a single innovation came from Intel." -- AMD CEO Hector Ruiz in 2007
