According to Wal-Mart, the company is launching a new process to speed up returns of items bought through its online site, for the busy holiday season time to advance and compete against Amazon.com services.

Wal-Mart’s Mobile Express Returns, will be starting in early November. Customers can use the company’s app to return an item, and then the process can be completed at express lanes in a store by scanning QR codes and handing over the item.

 

This process reduces the time of return at stores to as little as 30 second from 5 minutes that was required before, said Daniel Eckert, head of Wal-Mart’s U.S. services and digital acceleration business.

 

Also, this process allows customers to receive refunds on the following day. It is reported that some items will be eligible for instant refunds even without the products being returned in store, such as shampoo, and color cosmetic.

 

In addition, Wal-Mart is planning to extend the new returns process to items bought in its stores by early next year, and is working on a similar returns policy for items bought from third-party seller on walmart.com
